Keeps me from overheating while riding around TX in the summer. HOWEVER (as other reviewers have said), the waist measurement is NOT even close to true... it's @2" too short. Not easy to correct, even by a seamstress. A tight-fitting 19th century girdle might be the best adjustment, but those things are hard to find in my size (OK, that was a bad joke... but it probably would be a practical solution). Yes, I'm glad I bought these... in spite of the less-than-perfect fit.Great value, fit well, and kept me cool in 100° + (40° C) temperatures. Love the full length inner leg zippers.I have two SWK pants that I enjoy. The black pair is much too warm for the summer. The tan pair is deemed a summer pant but there is minimal ventilation. So I got these. I love that they have an athletic fit! I don’t feel like I’m wearing a garbage bag strapped around my legs. The ventilation is exceptional and I’m going to be so much happier in those 90+ (And humid!) New England days. As others have mentioned the sizing in the waist is off. I wear a 32 and the medium (31-33) is more like a MAXIMUM 31. So I will relocate the button and the hook. They seem like they’re quality, though I believe the SWK has a little thicker armor plus larger coverage. I’m pleased with the quality too. Nice pockets. Good length. I like the stretchy knees. Interior lining seems like it’s quality too. Another reviewing said their snap broke and the pants slid down causing him road rash. While I’m sorry for his injuries, it’s a reminder to have a jacket that can zip to the pants and to use a belt! If you’re going to get out and ride, don’t skimp on the potential of your gear. Minus one star for the sizing issue! As I write this, Im waiting on a replacement pair due to sizing issues.Since there is no one standard way of sizing overpants, I had to go one size up. I wear a 36 inch waist in jeans usually. I ordered a XL. The joe rocket website shows that these should fit, but I guess they base that on wearing them without jeans underneath. Additionally, I have 28 inch thighs from working out, and the waist and thighs were tight. I could get them on and buttoned but could not sit down. Defeats the purpose of sitting on a bike.Waiting on the XXL size and will hopefully have a better fit.Notes on everything else. The material and finish are amazing. As of 2019 the pants have a hook closure AND a snap button at the waist, but I could see how it pops open for many people. The snap button is very weak. The overall feel is really heavy duty and it looks like it may flow a lot of air. Holding them up to the light there is a LOT of mesh. I'm very optimistic. One of my biggest gripes is that I always wear overpants for even the shortest trips (ATGATT) and want something that is fast and easy to take on and off. With the inside zipper on the leg, this was very easy to do. A BIG win here.So far, even with the sizing issue, Im very optimistic and think these are a great deal as well as a ton of bang for the buck. When you consider that custom pants would run about 500 a pair this is a great stop gap.I'm 6'4", 220 pounds. My waist is 35". I do a lot of squats and have big thighs. These are tight on the thighs. Also, the button for the waist doesn't stay closed. It's not sewn in the optimum position so it doesn't matter what setting you put the waist Velcro at.Fantastic pants! Best summer riding gear and matches the silver phoenix ion jacket perfectly! Somewhat slimmer through the thigh for a less baggy look while sitting on the bike and minimising flapping in the wind. A little long while standing, but again settles into place and fit while sitting in the bike. Quality through and through. Armor is unobtrusive, yet feels protective. The best thing about these pants it's the air flow. As soon as the bike starts rolling, air goes through and through all over. No real hot spots noticed after the first ride. The back of the knee armor pockets have a soft material as to not irritate the knee.Highly recommend for warm/hot weather riding! Had other pants before, but these win hands-down.These replaced a 14 year old pair of Phoenix pants that finally got too tattered but served me well. I use these over dress pants when I commute and the new pair is sufficiently loose to continue this practice. They seem to run trudcyo size as well.As noted in other reviews the hook and snap closure seems a little weak but this hasn’t been a problem for me.Positive differences include side accessed pockets (vs top accessed), better hip padding and more reflective surfaces. I got the silver this time, because if you get these for the heat, the last thing you want is black.Living in the north eastern US, my summers mostly consist of mid 80's with the occasional drift into low to mid-90's. I bought these pants specifically to keep me as cool as possible without sacrificing protection.I wore these pants on a day when it was about 93F and frankly I was a bit disappointed. The shin area has absolutely zero air flow; its all on your quads. That would probably be fine if you are in a tuck position on a sport bike, but on an ADV/cruiser bike when your quads pretty much face the sky, youre unlikely to get any significant airflow. I rode the long way to the grocery store and back and I'll say that walking around the store in what looked like snowboarding pants on a hot July afternoon felt a little silly. In the end, I went for some kevlar lined riding jeans. They were about as cool as these pants were for my riding position, but offered a much more casual appearancenice summer pants. they are lightweight, well-made quality mesh, protection in place.Arrived on time and as advertised. Great quality, no stings or defects. I wear a 38 - 40 and these are comfortable. Looking forward to riding when the snow leaves...I previously purchased the pants and liked it so much that I bought another for my wife.
