Description
Kenneth James Crist retired from the Wichita, Kansas Police Department in 1992, after 20 years’ service, the second half as a motorcycle patrolman. During his time on “the wheel”, he was also a certified instructor for Motorcycle Safety Foundation, teaching others the basics of motorcycling and not getting killed in traffic. He began writing in 1994 and has over 200 short stories to his credit in venues ranging from Skin and Bones to Kudzu Monthly, mostly internet publications. Having retired a second time from the security force at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita, he now drives for American Red Cross blood services as a volunteer and is also active with the American Legion Riders and the Patriot Guard. He lives with his wife Donna in Wichita, along with two spoiled dogs and a haunted Kawasaki, “Christine.”

I have never driven a motorcycle, and at my advanced age most likely never will. I don't like to drive cars, either, but have logged thousands of miles on forklifts. I did, however, enjoy reading Mr. Crist's book. He kept it interesting and lighthearted, while at the same time explaining important aspects and practices of motorcycle operation. Since it's Christmas season as I type this I'll state that this "Manual" would make an excellent gift for a friend or loved-one who might be, or is thinking about becoming a motorcycle enthusiast. Who knows? It just might turn out it kept someone you love from being seriously injured or killed.
